I'm Dr. Kathy Baker and I am the Medical Director here at Trickum Ridge Animal Hospital. In addition to taking care of your pets, my job is to try to make sure that we are providing the best veterinary care possible. We are always trying to do things better. I feel that each of you, our clients, is very important and has great insight into our performance. I ask that if you have any suggestions on how we can take care of you and your pets better, please fill out one of the client surveys or send me an email. My team and I consider all suggestions made by clients. It is part of our mission to provide exceptional client service.
Becoming a veterinarian was always my goal, and I really do love caring for pets. I received both my Bachelor's degree in Animal Science and my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State University. I have worked for our practice group since 2003 and have been part of the team here at Trickum Ridge since 2006. I have special interests in dentistry and dermatology/allergy care. Both of these areas can really make a huge impact on a pet that has problems with their teeth or their skin and ears.
When I am at home, I love spending time with my husband, D.J., and our 2 dogs (Mac & Logan) and 3 cats (Mena, Mogwai & Bacchus). I also enjoy my garden during the spring and summer. When we have time to get away, we love to travel and are always looking for suggestions of cool places to visit.
While I share a lot of important information with my clients everyday, I think having a microchip implanted in all of your pets is a necessity. In November 2009, my first kitty love, Sweetie, disappeared from our back yard. Although we posted signs in the neighborhood, posted her on internet sites, & went to the shelter weekly, we never found her. Unfortunately I had never placed a microchip in her for identification purposes. I have learned my lesson and have chipped all my other kids. I hope each of you will do the same.
