Profender

Profender is a topical solution for the treatment and control of hookworm, roundworm, and tapeworm infections in cats and kittens. To use this medication they must be at least 8 weeks of age and weigh at least 2.2 lbs.

Our doctors believe that intestinal parasite prevention and treatment in all household pets is very important as some of these parasites can be transmitted to humans, especially small children.

Since giving a large pill to most cats can be quite a stressful event, we feel that using the Profender which is simply applied to the back of the neck like most flea preventatives is an excellent option for treating intestinal parasites in our feline patients.

One dose is effective at eliminating roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms. If the pet becomes reinfected with any of these parasites, an additional dose can be reapplied 30 days after the original dose.

Our only word of caution is to make sure that other cats are not licking the product off of the neck of another cat and the product should be applied in a place where the pet cannot lick it off of itself.
